In politics layers of truth and untruth are so over lapping that they often merge with each other.
I think that Sushma Swaraj would not put her credibility, as leader of opposition, on line by publicly saying something which can be easily disproved once the recordings of that meeting are made public.
At the same time Mufti also not take such a huge risk of of praising Mody so openly. She (and we all) have seen how Anna Hazare and Maulana Ghulam Mohammed Vastanvi were hounded viciously for honestly praising the progress made by Gujarat.
But I have so much sympathy for Chidambaram now. He will be confused how to doctor the tape recordings of that meeting, before releasing it.
On one hand it would be so tempting for him to twist it in such a way that Swaraj is proved wrong. On the other hand his important ally Farooq Abdullah must be pressurizing him to present the recordings in such a way that his son, Omar, (and by default Swaraj) are proved to be correct.
