There are several movies like that. For instance, Dayawan and Sarkar are copied from Godfather. Murder and Hawas are copied from Unfaithful. Daraar and Agnisakshi were copied from Sleeping With the Enemy. Kasoor and Raaz were copied from What Lies Beneath

When I saw Deewar, at Minerva, Mumbai, I felt the writer of the script/ story read the novel, Never Love A Stranger. Thereafter I have seen many movies influenced by many English novels -- not by English films.
Mostly the films need a story and the story is not necessarily the brain-child of the director or producer -- it is written by some one else.
Hindi films takes its story from different languages, English films are no exceptions. They had to collect their themes from as far as the Arabian Nights. European languages have great contribution to English films.

Hindi filmdom is totally dependent on English films for Story. and then , Kannada, tamil and other regional films are dependent on Hindi films for the stories. Life goes on like that.
