In a sense yes... much before gilchirst.. West indian started this trend.. in a subtle manner.. jeff dujon is a good batsmen too, then came wasim raja and wasim bari. Most successful wK, batman to gain reputation was Kaluwirthana ... of srilanka.

All Rounder means a player who is good in all department i.r. Batting, Bowiling & Fielding..
Normally we see Wicketkeeprs hardly bowl any over, their main role in a team is Wicketkeeping and batting. Someone like Gilchrist who has the ability to play big innings and with pace and also can does a better wicktkeeping is not less than any allrounder.

I too have a doubt about this. But I think a player who is good at more than one field in the game is an all rounder.

No.He can't be termed as an alrounder until and unless he can bowl and field too in other position other than his own area.
