Sir Mokshagundam Vishweshwaraiah or Sir MV as he was popularly known, was an engineer from Karnataka. A recipient of the Bharat Ratna, Vishweshwaraiah was knighted as a Commander of the Indian Empire by King George V for his contributions for the public good. September 15 is celebrated as Engineer's Day in India in the memory of a man believed to be India's first engineer.

He is not the first engineer.
Infact he was the greatest engineer of those times.
His Birthday is what we celebrate as 'Engineer's Day'

Nilmani Mitra, the first qualified engineer of India , who constructed some magnificent mansions in Calcutta........however ,Mokshamundam Vishweshwaraiyya-Civil Engineer was the greatest engineer of those times. His Birthday is what we celebrate as 'Engineer's Day'
