Neecha Nagar, (Lowly City in English), is a 1946 Hindi film directed by Chetan Anand. Written by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas, this film was a pioneering effort in social realism in Hindi cinema, and paved way for many such films by other directors and many of them written by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas.

It became the first Indian film to gain western recognition, after it won the Palme d'Or (1946) at the Cannes Film Festival.
