Where is the seriousness my friend ?
The Hockey Federation is in shambles.
The Football Federation has brought in a coach like Houton whose hands are well tied behind.
The Badminton Association is short of funds to even provide proper courts and shuttle cocks.
The Boxing Federation lacks the expertise of International Coaches of the likes Cubans and USA have.
The Wrestling Federation is marred by controversies.
If there was a Prakash Padukone or Pullela Gopichand, and Saina currently in Badminton, Baichung Bhutia or I M Vijayan in Football, Ajit pal Singh, Dhanraj Pillay, Udham singh or K D Singh Babu in Hockey then no credit goes to our federations.
Our only systematic corporate funding and interest lies with Cricket and that only because The Cricket Control Board is an autonomous body.
Pugilists of the calibre of Dingko Singh and Vijender will suffer for these reasons even though SAI is better managed.
so when sportspersons are ignored then how could we be serious about spo ...more

Only organising a major event like Commonwealth games, or, even the Olympic, India can not earn anything in any sports other than individual efficiency and efforts. Let us see the actual Union Budget provision for sports. If it would have been seriously thought, budget would have been bigger. But it is not so untill now. Further, the politicians are occupying the chairs of the different Sports councils ! What more to guess and say !!!

Our government is very serious of hosting sporting events like Commonwealth games, Asian games, Olympics etc because hosting of such events helps the politicians and their business associates to make money. Moreover it gets them free passes not only for their own family but also to their extended family consisting of in laws, out laws, friends, chamchas etc. Unfortunately they are so greedy that they want to pocket major chunk of the money allotted for the event and end up by compromising on quality in the area of construction of venues, hospitality center, roads etc. If only if they are less serious about making money out of the event and slightly more serious of hosting the event then things will be much better.

Our ppl are but ppl who manage the events are not, the BA explains it all 200%. We have ppl who have bureaucratic mindset managing sports. The Hockey Story of India is the worst hit tragedy. Esp. on women's, when u saw the spate between coach where he was dummied w/ assistant coach getting shotcaller post by establishing alliance w/ senior players sort-a taletics, it is a hard hard way ahead even if you put the all time gr8's of Hockey as coaches.

PPl say "But we have so & so skilled in so & so sport".....but individual talent is diff from natl sporting effort. Futebol is also tragedy. On our very first international, we held 2-1 against FRANCE in 1948 (lost but still 2-1)- our guys didn't even have proper shoes & was severely undergunned.Today we are a joke.

In CHina they do it by keeping both retired sports figures& Military NCOs & Co's in the decision making bodies of various sports. We allow it to bureaucratize :(
