Interesting question...and it makes me introspect...revives pleasent memories of moments shared with my Mom and my love!!
I shared a great chemistry with Mom...Dad was a bit of a philosopher, reserved and lost in his world of music...but Mom shared her love for the piano and paintings with me...after I passed my XI exams...our interactions shifted to a different level...more matured..more worldy and more as friends and confidants. She is no more...having passsed away 5 yrs back...followed immediattely by my Dad.
My soul mate was the one who I suddenly discovered as a beautiful friend...even after we had been studying for Management together for 8 months or so previous to the discovery. She was the one who encouraged me to write for the University magazine and later even gave up her coveted job with the New York Times....we shared a great rapport and its God's will that she is no more.

Chemistry with 'someone' you love is warmer and greater than it being shared with parents, who are selflessly divine and reagard-worthy...!

With partner because we belongs to the same generation.
With plenty of mutual love and respect there is a generation gap with parents.
Can't be helped.

Chemistry with partner is greater, of course. Because Physics and Biology too get shared much well with the partner.
