If I am correct, Casillas of Spain became the third goalkeeper captain to win the Soccer World Cup. The first was Gianpiero Combi of Italy in 1934 and the second was Dino Zoff of Italy in 1982.

The first goalkeeper to captain his side was Gianpiero Combi, who was the Italian goalkeeper in 1934, when the hosts beat Czechoslovakia 2-1 after extra-time.
