Rupert Friend (born 1 October 1981) is an English film actor.
Friend grew up in Oxfordshire and attended the Marlborough School. He moved to take A-levels at the Cherwell School and d'Overbroeck's College in Oxford. He trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London. His most famous role is arguably as Mr. Wickham in the 2005 adaptation of Pride & Prejudice. He also appeared opposite Johnny Depp in The Libertine, as Billy Downs, a young friend and lover of John Wilmot, 2nd Earl of Rochester, the character played by Depp. Friend is known to have read for the part of James Bond in Casino Royale (2006). More recently, he appeared opposite Dame Joan Plowright in Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. He was named "outstanding new talent" at the 2005 Satellite Awards
