How can anyone justify Islam's treatment of women, when it imprisons Afghans under blue shuttlecock burqas and makes Pakistani girls marry strangers against their will?

How can you respect a religion that forces women into polygamous marriages, mutilates their genitals, forbids them to drive cars and subjects them to the humiliation of "instant" divorce? In fact, none of these practices are Islamic at all.

Anyone wishing to understand Islam must first separate the religion from the cultural norms and style of a society. Female genital mutilation is still practised in certain pockets of Africa and Egypt, but viewed as an inconceivable horror by the vast majority of Muslims. Dear Rohitji, No not any religion teaches or gives power to hit his wife as in the eyes of Lord it is a greater sin then robbing as u r doing hatyachar on a "abla woman" where she has no go but to bear her husbands torture. Regards Cyrus

No holy book has mentioned to hit woman/ kill animal/ disrespect to old.........the concept of any religious book are equal........the different is the preaching.........few people have presented in a wrong way which has diverted the mind and spoil the holyness of the philosophy.........

I have read all the answers and comments here.As I have not read the Quran,I am not aware if it says like this.However one should have a rational thinking and not believe and practice such things even if it has been written in a holy book.
