You can go for Maruti SX4. In terms of performance the tall boy sedan SX4 is better than the extended version on Maruti Swift called Dzire or Hyundai Verna. Equipped with 16 V DOHC engine SX4 gives a maximum output of 102bhp @ 5500rpm and delivers maximum torque of 142Nm @ 4200rpm. Both the variants ZXi and VXi have manual transmission and 5 speed gearbox. The mileage delivered by the car is 12kmpl within the city limits and around 14kmpl when driven on highway.

My friend has just bought the new ford ikon diesel 1.4 TDCi and I have tried it out. The handling and performance is very good and the Engine power is simply superb and pulls the car in all driving conditions of the city. The diesel would be ideal for you as it is especially economical for longer distances and is very comfortable. The built quality has always been excellent with Ford.
