It is an exaggerated statement even if it is correct to some extend. The corruptness, abuse of power are rampant in lower level of politics, judiaciary, bureacracy etc than at the higher level. For example a sub inspector of police is more corrupt, abusive than an officer of a SP cadre. State level policians abuse power more than the central politican. Seldom we have complaints against people like Sonia Gandhi,Rahul Gandhi, Dr Man Mohan Singh etc. Come to think of it most of the central cabinet ministers, supreme court judges, inspectors generals of police are honest and upright. And believe me it is us the people who made them corrupt by our ineptness in choosing a right person.

P. Chidambaram and Rahul Gandhi have a clean image. When the majority of the politicians behave like goofs, one tends to think all are imbeciles. If a basket has 90 percent rotten apples in it, you'll ignore that basket thinking if so many apples are bad, all must be bad too and if there are a few which are spotless, an element of suspicion remains - they must be rotten from inside !

For someone who dislikes the deeds of politicians I cannot think about any politician with a spotless image. Can just say that there are a few who are slightly better than the rest of the pack.I never was able to understand the ways of politicians before, never can now and never will be in the future.

"Achieving a goal at the cost of anything", which has become the motto of today's politics , u cant say to whom we sud blame....its the few people at the top level or the others in the middle or lower level of hierarchi....I think , perhaps this is the reason , I was never impressed by any of the lots....as an individual , ppoliticians of recent past , I was highly impressed by personalities like , Late Indira Gandhi, Late Jyoti Basu, Atal Bihari Vajpayee , but it has nothing to do abt their political career , rather I appreciate their exceptional capabilities to handle a nation( In Case of Late Jyoti Basu, a state rather) which is the second most populous country of the world as a real head.

Clean Spotless -- It is a farce. A politician comes from the citizens of the same country... and he cant be no different from them as far as common traits are concerned.

Why curtail it to politicians? In the current scenario in every walk of life majority of the people give the minority a bad reputation. Police, bureaucracy, business men and every where majority of us are corrupt. It is the order of the day and for them a mean for their survival . The TATAS are said to have a clean image as a leading industrialist, Infosys as a leading IT company, Many in the Judiciary at the higher level that is high court and supreme court, Many doctors , In politics The present prime minister along with his trusted sub ordinates M/S A.K.Antony, Kamal Nath, Kabil Sibal, Chidambaram , Pranab Mukerji all have more or less clean images.

At present I can see only our Prime Minister having clean and spotless image. The less said about others, the better it is. Besides being corrupt they are inefficient also. And the percentage of such politicians will be more than 90%. And at lower level, like Corporators, MLAs it is almost 100%.

In the present situation it is a million dollar question. I feel it is a great task to the politicians to be non- corrupt. Politicians aren't God , neither they are fated, blessed to serve the masses, begin a pauper. Politicians and 'sex-workers' go a long way in history . Today you show me one without being a corrupt and I show you God...! Not with the way the incentives are currently set. Most national politicians spend the overwhelming bulk of their time raising money for re-election. Corruption is their weapon and bodyguard to attack polity and to get defended from counter-attack. Can a fish survive out of water...? Reality we all know but legally they are pure as distilled water. Even the God does not want them early. He wants his place to be neat and clean. Average life of a politician in India is above 85. Politicians are moral-bankrupts to attack interests instead of direct fight. Except microscopic minority all politicians fall as victims of power and money...!!
