In a major train accident, at least ten people were killed and several others injured when an EMU train from Chennai Beach to Vellore rammed into a stationary express train at Chitheri near Arakkonam. The growing rail accidents is a disturbing fact for the nation. This is not something happen for the first time. Railway officials say that 86% of the train accidents are caused by human error. What can be done to stop rail accidents at least that cause due to human error? Or please share your views.
Human are the weakest link in any embedded system. Failure rates for humans as system components are several orders of magnitude higher than other part of the system. Railway operation system requires involvement of a large number of persons. This results in more human errors and hence disastrous consequences. Even after adoption of automation in Railways, a reasonable number of human- related requirements would be indispensable.
