Q.
Many Indians without any political bias believe that if Sardar Patel became the PM instead of Nehru India would have been a more unified and stronger nation than what it is today. Will you agree with this?

My dear, you have snatched away my voice. That is 100% true. But Gandhi upon the insistance of Motilal Nehru, who spent substantial portion of his wealth towards the independance struggle, Nehru was made the PM. Had it been Patel, Kashmir would have been like delhi or any other state of India. Pakistan would never have dared to poke his nose on India.

It is possible but everyone has his own plus and minus points. Since the Sardar was very decisive and strong, India would have definately been a more unfied country. Today India is a contributor to the IMF whereas our western neighbour is still looking for dole outs. The foundation for this strength was laid by Nehru who set up the infrastructure of steel plants, power projects, IIT\'s, etc. Today we can only make a hypothethical guess if Patel would have followed the same vision.

Any issue will have its merits and de-merits. Eventually one has to accept the reality. Let us take it in that spirit.

NO, when he was agriculture minister there were thousands of sucides by farmers? If he was brilliant in his portfolio, it should not have happened.
