That's a very excellent idea, Saj. But as a matter of principle, if the vehicle or whatever I'm donating is in "throw-away" state- I just won't give it to someone else. It's cool to give old stuff to folks but not stuff which is in a state of near death.
But personally, if I had an old cycle or an old bike (Jawa- I still use) or car (HM-Conty- I still use)....I'd just re-do and customize it myself & make it look 300000x better than a factory made generic.

The latest trend is people just buy what they see (not what they need) and pile-up things end-up in too many things without maintenance or to dump them as waste in their garage or a store room or even hardly trying to find a place to keep them
There is one more way for charity when it comes to old rusted, run down & lying unused
Instead of going single handed, it is always better to organise them
Collect / let them bring their any old rusted / run down / lying unused things as donation to a common place (in any way they are not going to loose anything) and organiser have to display them in any locally available field / hall for a fixed / throw-away price or go for action, so that the needy can buy it and the amount can be utilized for a genuine cause or the left-out is still used for what you have mentioned. So in this way, the needy can get at a lesser price and displaying or announcing the donors name will inspire others to donate more and a smaller collection which can be ...more
