Manna dey ,Sirf Nam hi Kapfi hai .He is such a legend singer ,as well as the victim of politics in indian cenema .He has got every weapon as far as concern abt sur,tal & every thing .His voice was fully fit to Raj kapoor ,but due to Mukesh sab was freind of Raj Kapoor ,he was given max chance to mukesh .I do not w/o to Mukeshji but this is the fact.On that time the other singer Mohd. Rafi is the only other option for the music director .& all the singer fly out of the compete in the tornado of Kishor da.Actually Manna dey is Guru of all the singer's .
Well ,Ye Mere Pyare Vatan ,Ye Mere Bichde Chaman thujh pe dil Kurban ,Ye Meri Zohra Zabi & lot more songs r my favourite .

I think he was mainly used for Classical Based Songs...His Voice was not to introduced for Young Charachter...I think his voice seems to be like Older Person's Singing !! Refer " O meri Johra jabin" from Waqt !! You can refer his singing of film ANand " Zindgi Kaisee Hai Paheli haye" & another song "Sur Na Saje Kya Gaoon main" He was a perfact Classical Singer...but his voice could not match to all the Actors, Like Rafi Saab, Kishore Kumar & Mukesh ji used to sing (This Trio given suitably playback for almost all the Actors of their time (Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bacchan, Manoj Kumar, Devanand etc) !! : ))

To be very candid and frank with you --I dont like the voice of Mana Dey nor the man in him. I personally think that he got more than wht he gave to the world of music . He is blessed with long life and may god keep him alive and acvtive for many more years --yet what is his contribution / He is a bengali and sang perhaps record number of Begali songs , but what is hiscotribution to the world of Bengali music ----remember , the legendary music director Salil Chowdhuri hardly got him sang with his tune and lyrics while Hemant Kumar was fully utilised by him in Bengali songs .I used to respect him like anything, but his caustic remark against the Matinee Idol of Begali film UTTAM KUMAR was very indignified and full of jealousy . Manna De had a competitor as Mahendra Kapoor (Both were classical). This was why he could not stretch-out himself like Rafi and Kishore Kumar. But I love Manna De's songs very much.

I think they could have surely tried some more songs so as to utilise the ablities and sound
