Q.

If the events of November 26, 2008, have proven anything, it's that the terrorists can attack us, but they can't take away what makes us Indian -- our freedom, our liberty, our civil rights. No, only Politicians have that right ..!! So Terrorists failed in their Mission ..isn't it ..??

Terrorists achieved their goal. They have permanantly damaged our psyc. It will take a generation to heal the wounds.

Remember Javed Miyandad's last ball six? After that event the Indian team was never the same..till after a generation... after the rise of Ganguly.

That was the height of SOviet operations in Afghanistan and the last moments of the Cold War....

So in 80s, ppl like LeT, JuD, HuA, etc., had a lot of political significance and had a lot of clout. After the USSR collapsed & cold war ended, each of those sections of Black Stork took up a different cause- Some like LeT, JuD went to India. Others like Kaukaz Mujahideen went to Bosnia. Others went to Philippines and joined Moro Islamic Army, etc.

But the influence levels of these splinter groups dropped rapidly, and in recent years, their voices are more or less limited to their little fiefdoms in Pak, Mindanao, Dagestan etc. So to make themselves felt, they embark on such missions such as Mumbai, hoping the social backlash experienced will give ...more
