Wassup was coind by Walt Disney for their cartoon of the rabbit. who when asking some what is hamppning would say "Wassup Doc"
this has filterd own to Amarican slang English and then into British slang English.
If you are in UK or USA you will hear this phrase on every foot step.
Wassup Doc, Wassup Man etc.

Bugs Bunny. It was " What's up , Doc?". It was coined by Charles M Jones or Chuck Jones (1912-2002) This was to show the rabbit's mischievousness. The famous animator was instumental creating other characters like Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd and Porky pig.
