I feel that medicine is not required. For common cold and running nose, the best is to boil water and pour it in a bowl, put a towel over the head, close the eyes and inhale vapour of the hot water three or four times a day. This gives lot of relief. Take total rest for fast recovery and also to avoid transferring cold to others because cold is contagious.

Dont take medicines. Cold is an indication that our body is fighting with some viral attack. within 2 or 3 days symtoms vanish.. But if we take antibiotics, they harm us.. make us immune to them, and when some real attack comes, they become ineffective. Instead, take lot of vit C.. like Amla.( in any form- chyavanprash or even murabba) it increases our fighting strength..

It is said that it takes about one week if you take medicines and about seven days when no medicines are taken to get relief from cold. Add a dash of vicks ointment in boiling hot water and inhale the steam.
