The talent is definately there in India, we just don't have any investment poured into the grass roots aspect of the game. But it's channeled into other things like getting foreign coaches.
We don't need multi billion dollar clubs like Real Madrid, but perhaps simple, cheap funded yet effective- DPRK domestic league, or a Warsva Club like Dynamo Kviv. Both the Soviet Union & the North Koreans invested very less financially in sports compared to Europe, but invested A LOT in domestic talent & grassroots game publicity & promotion. Like strong inter domestic league matches.
If the govt. wakes up and instructs all public sector to invest a modest % towards grass roots promotion *& aspects of the game (ex: make football a career for 11th std+). Or have inter town clubs. But some investment is needed to induce packed stadiums for these domestic games in terms of generating interest. But the talent is there.
This process can be done in 5-10 yrs. not a 100. That Asian Foot b ...more

Kick away the official from the football field. If we try, we can make it by 2020, if not in 2015. Try, try. With the population and popularity of the game we can do it.
