A brilliant question Sir! Today's security requirements for aircraft, aeroplane flights, we have to be there two hours before flight. You have to take off your shoes, you take it off; you go behind a screen and remove belt etc - if he asks you to, you do it. I mean, otherwise you don't get on the aircraft. But in spirituality we are treated, what shall I say, with gentle gloves of kidskin. We are pampered, we are treated like royalty.Today, we are put up in comfort with wooden floors, heated, carpeted, airconditioned rooms, all of which I think promote in us,degrading the interest in spiritual life.'Be in tune with nature, be simple and in tune with nature '. But ARE WE REALLY??And we think wearing a $100 tee-shirt is simple, because there are tee-shirts for $400 which we didn't buy.So you see, we are always comparing ourselves with what we could have done rather than with what we should have done; and beguiling ourselves, deluding ourselves, into a sense that we are leading simple, hum ...more

One of the thought provoking questions indeed. really speaking i do know how to answer this question. it may be due to hypocracy of the people, as people tend to behave hypocratically and as Chammellion changes it colour, they also changes its colour and more over, preaching can be easy but putting the same into practice is very difficult. We are no Mahatma Gandhi or Swami Vivekananda , they are all above us and that is why they are Mahatmas. We are just ordinary mortals who have passion, anger, love , hatred amongst ourselves and due to this , it is very difficult to practice what we preach, even if a person try to practice. There is saying in Tamil , " Padipathu Ramayanam, idipathu perumal koil " means literaly speaking, reading ramayan and destroying Perumal koil, that is vishnu's temple and that is we are doing and hence, sir, it should be in the mind of the people what is to be done and what is not to be done. if that thing is not coming , even reading good books wil ...more

Sir, to preach something nothing substantial is required ... not even brain :))) ... but to follow something good needs a lot of conviction & drive.

I am also not a clean chit in this regard. We have, in fact, two kinds of morality side by side; one which we preach but do not practice, and another which we practice but seldom preach, Morality is not really the doctrine of how to make ourselves happy but of how we are to be worthy of happiness
