I have marked Terminal-3 (T3) word is used for the international airports for London, New York, Delhi, Dubai and most of the cities. Please tell me what is reason behind this type of naming of airports ?

Airport is one . teminal building can be many. hence names term 1 2 3 4 5 etc/ exapmle london has one airport ( from where planes take off and land ) but the passanger buildings are five .
