I bought new laptop yestday.. The processor is of AMD.. is it good???

AMD is AWESOME and congrats on your new purchase, Anand. Intel processors are grossly overpriced and under performing. The only advantage Intel has is better customer support, which is only really applicable to large companies. But for performance, it's AMD ZINDABAD. Your AMD prolly uses a ATI Radeon 1100 series processor. True, the 1100 is not a really "good" GPU, but nevertheless- it is a "real" GPU. Most Intel units come w/ the "Intel Graphics Accelerator" which is not really a GPU at all. And for processing quality, speed, and for processing stuffs like video etc., it's a good GPU u want. And you made a very good choice, a wise use of your hard earned bucks. To compare, please buy this month's edition of "chip" magazine & look @ the price of an Intel Core2Quad setup...a gaming PC (one which can run the game CRYSIS in ultra high resolution) costs about 1 lakh. The same config which uses an AMD PHenom quad core series proc costs

Yess AMD processor is good... speially in graphics.... graphics support is very good..... speed is also okk... only prbs is it gets heated a bit
