Why is Bachelor of Science not considered by most of the science stream students? Why is it given the least importance?

BSc was a respected choice for students even a few years back. However since career definitions are more fluid and changing faster than we can imagine, it is often found that students who opt for an ordinary BSc programme are looked down upon. In the past two decades, students have faced the scorn of their peers and family members for opting for a BSc course, rather than going for engineering or medicine. However, now with the information technology and biotechnology (IT & BT) revolution, BSc seems to have regained some of its dignity, especially for students specialising in these areas. But what about general choices like physics, chemistry and mathematics?
