Yamaha's Fz is better. I had pwned aveneger , but sold and bought yamaha. The avenger is good , but the grip of the rear tyre isnt so great and skids a lot. If long running then rear brakes reqduire maintanence every 45 days.

Hi knowing the factors you mentioned in the message and question its quite tricky. The bikes in comparison hail from different genre. One is cruiser and another one is up-sport street bike. The price of Avenger or Yamaha FZ16 is almost same varying between
Rs.65, 000 to Rs.69, 000. The mileage given by Bajaj Avenger is 40 Kmpl in city and 48-50 on the highways and the Yamaha FZ16 is expected to deliver mileage around 38-42kmpl in the city and 45kmpl approximately on the highway. If compred both the bikes look good but a macho fighter kinda appearance of Yamaha FZ16 might get a second look when you zoom past. Most of them believe that the cruisers are more comfortable due to broad seats with soft cushions and back rests which are essential for riding long stretches. In Yamaha comfort is satisfactory but performance is given prime importance. Assessing you requirements Avenger would be comfortable to ride; otherwise Yamaha awaits to perform well.

The two bikes in question are entirely different. The avenger is a cruiser and fz is a street bike. The avenger will offer you a bike that is seldom seen on indian roads as it is not sold in large numbers so that exclusiveity factor will be there. the spares will be costlier and you have to go to a bajaj probiking showroom only to get it serviced. the Fz will be something different that has been ever offered in india. The bike has only self start so no kick hassles. the tyres are the widest available and the looks are like no other.the yamaha range is also easier to maintain and comfort factor is also very good.If you are below 28 yrs then try thr R 15 for some serious show off. The bike is damn good. I own one.
