In implied meaning its an act which is for general benevolence , for assistance - financial or otherwise to those downtrodden or victim of natural calamity or accidents with no commercial intrests in the name of church or GOD. In Hindu terms you call it daan dakshina, punya karma.

CHARITY IS CHARITY....there is nothing as such best..its just that you r serving the needy when needed....for eg. when a person is hungry and you are not serving taht time and then serving when his hunger is over makes no sense....Just try and help the needy as and when needed....
