When pilots are facing heat why expensive expat fliers whose salary has gone up substantially due to the rupee falling against the dollar, are being retained by the firms in deep financial trouble? Jet set to take 2 foreign pilots despite surplus. A foreign B737 commander is paid Rs.5 lakh a month and then an additional Rs.2 lakh a month goes for his hotel accommodation, on the other hand an Indian commander draws Rs.3.6 lakhs for the same job. R we not competent??
Not only that, Air India is the only airline to hold large-scale recruitment of commanders, not only at higher salaries, but also after paying hefty commissions to recruitment agencies. Air India officials feel that Air India could easily set up its own office and directly recruit pilots.
The report pointed out that an earlier policy requiring a large number of ALTP license holders with a commitment to release four commanders per month would have provided Air India with an additional 170 Indian commanders, and made it unnecessary to recruit any foreign commanders. However, at a "much higher cost to the company," the Air India has revised its policy.

I can`t see any reason for the discrimination in favour of the foreigners and against our own people. Why do we not have confidence in our own people and in our own ability ? When do we be able to get rid of this inferiority complex ? In this context, I can`t help but praise Chinese who are so pragmatics.
