Animal sacrifice: certain sacrifices practiced in the earlier yugas are not allowed in this kali yuga eg: aswamedha yaga. there certain rituals even today which are done as per the vedic traditions where goat is sacrificed. belief is that the pasu will also get good merit and will get a better birth.( goat is not cut here. the navarandhras are closed with expertise and goat would just drop dead. no pain . then the inner membrane of the stomach is mounted on to a branch of a particular plant and then offered to agni.( nowadays even this practice is not so popular but the results did seem very successful) but it customary
among the sudras to give meat as offering ( cock/sheep/goat) before partaking it as prasada. whatever be the method the purpose is well being of everyone.

Religion sacrificing animal? It's the people who sacrifice it...Sacrificing an animal has been there from the earliest known religion to man...In vedic era, one full veda is dedicated to sacrificial hymns and animals were sacrificed that time...In Abrahamic religions too sacrificing animals is observed...as long as ethical treatment is meted out to an animal while sacrificing it, I don't think any thing wrong it...
