There are many but i think Nargis have done a wonder for the society through her philonthropist work, the women in white through hers social works have done many things for the poor and needy. It is tribute to the great lady her t her Late Husband built a cancer wing in the Tata Memorial Hospital . She is a thorough gentle and a great human being.

Your question has a lacuna simply because the answer will vary for different generations. My college days were the hay days of Nargis, Madhubala,Meena Kumari, Wahida, Saira, Suchitra Sen and so on. My heart throb was Saira Banu and at the same time I developed great respect for Nargis. Then came Asha Parekh & Sadhna Sivdasani (for a breif period) followed by Hema, Sharmila, Jaya, Rekha, Shilpa, Shabana, Smita (unfortunately she did not live long) followed by Tabu, Rani, Preity and others. Out of the entire lot, I consider Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi are most talented. My heart throb was Saira. The actress, I respected most was Nargis - I have seen her closely as we were next door neighbours in Pali Hill in Mumbai. I consider all the artists mentioned herein are very good actresses for every human being.
