Q.

Hemlata was a playback singer in Bollywood in the 1970s and early 1980s. She won the Filmfare Best Female Playback Award for her classical Tu jo mere sur main sur milale in Chitchor. Her songs like Ankhiyon ke zharoke se.. Khushiyan hi khushiyan ho raho mein jinkiJab dip jale aanaTu is taraha se meri jindagi mein shamil hain are still popular. However she was unable to gain greater popularity in Bollywood. Which is your favourite song of this talented singer ?

Though all the songs mentioned here are really beautiful songs,my choice is of a less heard song.I really like "Sona Rupa,Sona kare kaise jhilmil jhilmil,Rupa kare kaise khil khil ,aha aha vrishti pade tapur tupur ,vrishti pade taapur tupur" Film Paheli (Sung by Hemalata with Suresh Wadkar, composed by Ravindra Jain)

All the songs sung by Hemlata were sweet, good, and popular.. but because of the unchallenged supremacy of Asha and Lata others could not rise, I like all her songs, especially the duets sung by her with Yesudas... and the Muqaddar ka Sikander song - Wafa jo na ki... Thanks for reminding me of her.. she was a great singer.

Yes, as she has sung most of her songs with Shri Ravindra Jain and didnt took interest with other musician. I like her song from Movie Muquadar Ka Sikandar, Music Kalyanji Anandji.. Wafa jo na ki to jafa bhi na kijiye, sitam jane mann is tarah to na kijiye, ke marne ki tamanna mein kanhi jee na jaye.. Brilliantly she sung this song.. Hats of to Late Kalyanji for such a wonderful composition.

She was the discovery of music director ravindra jain who used to compose music for almost all of rajshri's movies at that time. she was also referred to as his ' girlfriend'. i think ankhiyon ke jharokon se was the best song of hers. both the lyrics and the music are superb. it was a remake of that fantastic english movie ' love story ' adapted from the book by erich segal
