Books are often categorized very specifically- like Tom Clancy writes political science thrillers, Stepehen King writes horror, Asimov writes sci fi etc. ....Indian movies are sort of masala, in sense that most movies made here don't focus on 1 theme, but are multi thematic. The same package will have drama, some action, comedy, tragedy, as well as songs & dance to throw in the mix. That is what the average Indian audience demands. In West, for action you can go to racing club, for song & dance you can go to a nightclub, for drama u can go to the Opera House etc., but in India, since income levels sort of put a huge cap on entertainment for ppl, the audience sort of expects all that bundle in a single package...which makes adaptation of movies very difficult for Hindi directors. Instead of adapting, our guys just wait for Hollywood to release it and dub it...Answered by A Moin, 13 Oct '08 08:00 am
