Reliance Petroleum will start production in October 2008

As per Business Standard, Reliance Petroleum Ltd plans to start its 580,000 barrels per day refinery in October, after bhoomi pooja but within the firms December target.
The $6 billion plant being set up by the subsidiary of Reliance Industries will be adjacent to an existing 660,000 bpd plant on the west Indian coast, making Reliances Jamnagar site the worlds biggest refining complex.
About six weeks of work is remaining, including the synchronisation of almost 40 units. The pre-commissioning work is almost over, the newspaper quoted a source close to the development as saying.
The company has always maintained that it aimed to commission the refinery by December although its officials have said in the past that the project would be completed ahead of schedule.
