Hinduism is a term for a wide variety of related religious traditions native to India. It encompasses the development of Religion in India since the Iron Age traditions, which in turn hark back to prehistoric religions such as that of the Bronze Age Indus Valley Civilization followed by the Iron Age Vedic religion. Hinduism is so old that it has no known founder; it is the only major religion without one. In fact it is more of a way of life than a religion. It is the most flexible of all the world religion and strictly speaking no dos and do nots attached. It never boasts itself as the purest, authentic , best etc etc, but remains as one of the most lovable way of life.

Islam is the oldest religion
Hinduism is not the oldest of all the religions. It is Islam which is the first and the oldest of all religions. People have a misconception that Islam is 1400 years old and that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is the founder of this religion. Islam existed since time immemorial, ever since man first set foot on this earth. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was not the founder of Islam. He was the last and final Messenger of Almighty God.

The oldest religion need not be the purest and the most authentic religion
A religion cannot be claimed to be most pure and authentic, only on the criterion that it is the oldest. It is similar to a person saying that the water he has kept in an open glass, in his house, outside the refrigerator, for three months is purer than the water which has just been collected in a clean glass, immediately after it has been purified.

The latest religion need not be the purest and the most authentic religion
On the other hand a religion cannot ...more

Islam is derived from the Arabic root "Salema": peace, purity, submission and obedience. In the religious sense, Islam means submission to the will of God and obedience to His law.
Everything and every phenomenon in the world other than man is administered totally by God-made laws, ie. they are obedient to God and submissive to his laws, they are in the State of Islam. Man possesses the qualities of intelligence and choice, thus he is invited to submit to the good will of God and obey His law, ie, become a Muslim.
Submission to the good will of God, together with obedience to His beneficial Law, ie, becoming a Muslim, is the best safeguard for man's peace and harmony.
Islam dates back to the age of Adam and its message has been conveyed to man by God's prophets and messengers, including Abrahim, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad.
Islam's message has been restored and enforced in the last stage of the religious evolution by God's last prophet and messenger, Muhammad.

Paganist / animist religions are the oldest in the world, been around since Neanderthal times even. But it is hard to say, because paganism and animism is almost wiped out from the world, people hardly understand it.

There is no such thing called "the best religion of the world" since religion isin't science or economics which can be quantitatively measured. A Japanese will say Shintoism is the best, an Arab / Indian Muslim will say Islam is, a Hindu from Bali or India will say Hinduism is. But u can quantitatively compare religion since religion can't be quantified as can math, science, chemistry, physics, economics etc.

I can say Hinduism is the oldest religion is true .......... Hindus believe in 4 YUGAs ....... Satya, tretya, dwapar, and Kali ......... VEDA has been written in Satya Yug by Lord Brahma ......... Four Yuga are collectively known as 'Chaturyuga'. A Brahma's day consists of one-thousand such 'Chaturyugas'. Altogether, fourteen Manu appear during this whole period of 1000 Chaturgas or in other words a day of Lord Brahma. Each 'Manvantar' is named after a Manu and is equivalent to little more than 71 Chaturyugas. It also has its own Indra, Saptarishis and other deities. This way, a manvantar is also equivalent to 8,52,000 years of the deities or divine years. Going by the standard of the years of this world a manvantar is equivalent to 30,67,20,000 years. On the basis of the years of this world, a Brahma's day is equivalent to 30,67,20,000 x 14 = 4,29,40,80,000 yrs ......... so just imagine like wise how old is Hinduism ......... if it so we can say OLD is GOLD ........

I am not spiritually religious but thouth I respect all religion as the institution of respectability. All these castes are different ways to reach a single God who is unknown by us. Who is having control of this universe.
