It is Random Access Memory which is now available in different formats like DDR-I, DDR-II, DDR-III depending up on the speed. It is basically used to utilise the space required when running any program of the windows internally. More the RAM size, more the speed of the computer. The program resides in RAM on temporary basis when one is running any application. It decreases the load of the ROM (Read Only Memory) of the computer which is in built.

Ram it is temporary memory, It will store the data til the power is on, When the power will be off then the data will be lost. In this further we have pages. When any request will come to the execution then it will fist go to the ram. Then ram will execute the request.
