Theoriticaly more cc shud mean more power but take the case of a 2200 cc merc benz which produces 140 BHP and now take a yamaha YZF R1 with only 998cc n produces 172 BHP!!!....how is this possible??defying the laws of physics!!???

Cc does'nt mean to deliver more power its only cubic capacity that an engine is able to displace in its inner cylinders...in automobiles we can bore the dia of certain cylinders to increase power...there are several ways we can increase the BHP output..read an example below

american muscle car built with V8 engine having displacement of 6.1L HEMI(6100cc)can produce only a total of 350 to 400 bhp's.this is done in developing mustang cobra super snake for ford motors

japanese car makers nissan produce car called skyline GTR has an engine of 3.8L V6 produces more than 600 horses.this is claimed by fitting twin turbos or supercharger

so cc doesnt relate with BHP..it can vary to some extent
