Australia's legendary fast bowler Dennis Lillee once walked out to bat with an aluminium bat during a Test match against England at his home ground, the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) ground in the city of Perth in the state of Western Australia in December 1979. This bat is called the CornBat.

In the 1st ashes test in 1979 at Perth, Dennis Lillie batted a few balls with a bat made of aluminum. When he realized that was happening England captain at that time Mike Brearley objected, and as a result Lillie eventually hurled the aluminum bat away in disgust.
