I don't think so. Because, for one thing, a single world govt can function only if there is a single world currency directly under its control. Let us take the example of the recent financial crises being faced by Greece. Normally the governments resolve such crises by taking measures such as devaluing their currency, restructuring the debt, etc. But since Greece is a member of the eurozone, it cannot unilaterally stimulate its economy with monetary policy. To make matters worse the other member of Eurozone do not want to give any Euros to bailout out Greece. So the hands of the Geek govt is tied up and it is forced to resort to measures which are creating wide spread law and order problems in the country.
Now, just shift this scenario from European level to international level, where a single world govt controls the single currency. You can imagine the chaos that would result.

It is a good heroritical idea.Practically, this can not be implemented due to divergent views n vested interests.Pakistan can not control terror.A progressive society can not accept blasphemy but Pakistanis will revolt if blasphemy is withdrawn. They along with some redical Muslim countries will want Islamic rule. The Christians n Hindus will oppose this. So,for varieties of reasons ,it can not be implemented. This is my personal view.

It will resemble the manner in which India is run. By twist of fate citizens who can't leave India have to live with this sort of a setup, but is it really fair to impose it on the world? :) Imagine u try and arrive at a consensus in North Korea or Myanmar, and u have USA and CHina duking it out. What will happen is an endless series of debates which will cost crores upon crores of currency, while at the same time not being able to arrive at a consensus.

Perhaps I would support this suggestion if humanity as a whole was under attack by a race of evil, extra terrestrial aliens, but otherwise no sir. We can't even arrive at a consensus on a national level in many cases, how can we arrive at a consensus in a global level?
