Muhammed (saw) used to break his fast by eating some dates before offering Maghrib Salaat, ( prayer ) and if ripe dates were not available, he used to substitute them with some dried grapes.
it has been proved that dates are part of a healthy diet;
containing sugar, fat and proteins, as well as important
vitamins. that is why the Prophet attached such great
importance to them.
'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: "The 'ajwa' dates of 'Aliya' contain heating effects and these are antidote in the early morning."
Ref ;Muslim Book 023, Number 5083.
