A religion is a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a supernatural agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
The religious category is not transhistorical or universal; rather, Daniel Dubuisson writes that "what the West and the history of religions in its wake have objectified under the name 'religion' is ... something quite unique, which could be appropriate only to itself and its own history. The words used in other languages for similar concepts, such as dharma, bhakti, Tao, or Islam, have vastly different histories. The history of other cultures' interaction with the religious category is therefore their interaction with an idea that first developed in Europe under the influence of Christianity.

The world's first religion was humanity when our forefathers came through the path of messenger of God which was sent for us. We made religions like Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian and Jews but we are all equal in the eyes of God but not in politics or government or arts or any way of the jobs or careers. We are one when we serve as one or in unity in saving others.

There is no consensus on this. If we look as per history then the first one to be recorded in documents is vedic religion from proto-Indo-Aryan civilization. Zoroastrianism also simultaneously originated along with Vedic religion. Though it is the earliest recorded one, no one knows what preceded before it as far as scientific knowledge is concerned. I believe that Islam is the first religion on earth ever since man set his foot on earth.
