Q.

I still see people of the backward castes falling down on earth to salute the pundit ji.. till this is happening in India reservations must be on the basis of castes.. the backward catste people should be made to forget that they are inferior.. and for that they need to have their own people in important places.. The high caste people have usurped the rights of the down troden for thousands of years, think about the sufferring s they had to face from generation to generation, and we are fed up with the reservation just in a few decades.???..

I regret to find that both the answers are unsympathetic. The firstm(Vishwanathan) magnanimously says things would improve by and by. The other(Dinesh) is much more callous and rejects thie responsibility of the present generatkon ignoring this inequtable practice. Does he think that the priviliges enjoyed by the present generation is only on account of succession and not any inherent merit. He belittles the role of education in improving the situation. It is only when the conscience of both the provilegey d generation of the faclities enjoyed by them is raised about its true nature e.g. succession and not any inherent merit that thints will start looking up.Education will also awaken the lower castes to what they have lost for no fault of theirs.

The policy of reservation divides a community. The community that is eligible for reservation develop a mind set that they are inferior to the other people who belong to the 'forward community'. This is because the 'backward community' had acquired education and jobs equal to 'forward community' not on the basis of merit or talent but because of he reservations quota. So when they come face to face with a member of 'forward community' internally they feel uneasy. That is why they bow down and salute them. The reason for this servile attitude is reservation policies of the government. The day the reservation are abolished, the so called 'backward community' will loose their inferior status and think they are in par with 'forward community'. Then they will shed their servile quality and will be confident in facing the other community.

The premise behind reservation as a mechanism to of uplifting people is basically wrong one.It is not the disability of the dalits/oppressed but the disability of Indian society

No, respecting to a bramhan or pundit is different, that is the respect they are giving and no body is asking to respect ......but in the name reservation , the real people are dumped which is effecting to the nation's progress...... you have seen one side of the coin, if you will try to see the other side you will feel the truth...... we should make a policy to help people who are finacialy backward not by cast, we should not compromise in the quality at any cost which will encourage the backward classes to come farward to compete with others......

There is only 1 caste in India and that's INDIAN caste. The RESERVATION system was suggested to Chacha by Comrade Kruschev of the USSR. The idea was to make economically backward DEMOGRAPHIES (NOT ETHNOGRPHIES) at par w/ more industrialized demography materially. The Soviets did it too. Yet u didn't have ppl advocating "Kazakh reservation" or "Ukranian reservation" just demographic & income based reservations.

That was the spirit in India.

But then u had the ENTIRE skirt boys of the British Raj flock over to Bapuji's camp. Because they'd be called patriots w/o having to risk getting shot at by Thompson machine guns in some uncharted jungle in Burma. Bapu was like GOLD, perhaps he was too evolved a human being for the homosapien species of the 20th century...but the ppl who were his supporters other than PM Chacha & A few others were opportunists to the C-O-R-E.

Most of Bapu's supporters were those from RIGHT WING and not from LEFT WING (who flocked to Bose). And RIGHT WING = ...more

Ask this question to any person working in a government or a semi government office if you want a real answer. I am working in a Bank and I experience that these people are not worthy of all the facilities and the reservations. They erode the country of quality. Even the CJI who has earned his position by virtue of his belonging to certain caste was reluctant to disclose his assets for obvious reasons. Only a few influential people from the uppercaste exploited the dalits along with other people of their own community. While everyone is blaming the high caste people for the oppression of dalits in pre independence times when India was a land of hundreds of kingdoms, nobody is creaditing the uppercaste people for fighting the issue of upliftment of the backward castes. It was the uppercaste scholars who fought for the rights of the backward people and not the backward people who fought for their own rights. Even Dr. Babasahed Ambedkar, the architect of our Constitution was a dalit but ...more
