Naxalites are our agrarian population (Majority) who are just sick and tired of being on the receiving end of the economic system. If u work like a dog for 14 hours a day in hot sun and still u r left impoverished, it is only a matter of time b4 u pick up an assault rifle and declare war on the system.

Unlike what is misconstrued, the NAxalites aren't demanding a separate country and neither are they Mao fanatics. THey in fact criticized the CHinese attack on India recently saying that the CHina attack made Communism very hostile to the Indian psyche, even if not all COmmunists r Chinese....

Naxalites are left wing adventurists and in India there are several group of naxalites. prominent among them is communist party of India, Maoists, janasakti, cpi Marxist Leninist, new democracy.
under the leadership of charu mazumdar, in a small village , naxalbary, peasants hoisted the flag of revolution against feudal lords. charu mazumdar followed left wing adventurism. He went to the extent of saying china's chairman is our chairman. he advocated class enemy's annihilation and unless one's hand is drenched with the blood of a class enemy, one can not be called a communist.
with in one year the party was split and kanu sanyal started another party called CPI ML.
The CPM government in west Bengal ruthlessly suppressed the naxalbary movement and killed several innocent people in fake encounters.
at present Maoists are a force to reckon with in chattisgarh, andhra pradesh, jarkhand only.
