Kumari is the personification of the energy of Kumar (Also known as Skand, Murugan, Kartikeyi, etc)
He, as an adolescent boy took over as commander in chief of devats and vanquished the evil forces.
Kumari is venerated in Durga Saptshati as follows-
Mayur kukut vrate, mahashakti dharenadhe
Kaumari roop sansthane Narayani namostute
