Without any reason...... the last date for nobel nomination was 1st feb 2009 and Mr.Noble obama is elected as the US president on 20th of Jan09.....so he must have done alot of things for world peace in 11days....... and the pannels have proved that any person with double standard and with the word magic can get Nobel prize..... just imagin how fast the Noble prize pannel are recognising the person.....just superb.......the founder must be regrating in the heaven.....it is just like in ashow the campare is distributing the gifts/prizes to the audience....

His achievement or otherwise, he has received the nobel peace prize thats all. History will say that Obama received the award for peace in the year 2009 . what can one say about this. it is just like our political leaders who may not be educated given Dr title from the reputed university. it is just the same with Nobel Peace Committee. Now a days Nobel Peace PrIze does not get the reputation which it got many more years ago. When Mother Teresa and Dalai Lama received the award, it was great. now a days it become somewhat laughing stock. i think one day any layment get that award even he never does any worthwhile job or never contirbuted anything for the people. It is great that our own father of nation never received the award. if he might have been alive , he will definately given back the award to the Nobel Peace Committee. The last thing is that the peace award should be totally scrapped for ever.

To me the award has some significance, especially after Obama's words: "This award makes him feel the higher responsibility and commitment towards working for world peace and total disarmament". If we can see this really implimented by Obama in a few yrs time, we can feel happy that the award has done something great. There can be a silver lining in every black cloud. I am an eternal optimist and look forward to a more peaceful world.

Of the answers those of Mr Alok Gupta and A Ramchandran are reasonable. Rest including that allegedly BA follow the beaten path of denouncing the grant. It has tobe remembered that even Fiedel Castro, the avowed enemy of the USA and moreoverwho cocked a snooke at USA has praised thegrant of the prize. The grant has not devalued the prize but challenged the President to rise high enough to deserve it and he is the first Americaan President who shows the possibilities that he very well could and would. Besides the establishment of a 'Slave Dynasty' in USA.his reversal of some of the Amecian recent policies holds a great promise of enduring world peace.
