Its stickiness is not the major problem. It can prevent sea life from using oxygen and other nutrients to sustain life. Think of a sea with no animals or plants growing there. The oil at the shore may be removable and disposable; what has become mixed with water (about 25% is like that) is the villain.

Yup it is besides its not gonna be that easy to control just think BP made a blunder and whole region is suffering even they haven't mastered such technique to control though they say they have started but what sort of devastation happened in those regions we all know and for a country like India such a small thing compared to BP can be dangerous

The basic nature oil is sticky otherwise it wouldnt be used to make the engine smooth and running freely.
