Hi,
Financial engg is a good subject. But u need to apply to good institutions like IIT in Chicago. After that you may get hired in banks or insurance companies. USA has lot of insurance companies who look for good candiates in financee.
Back home in India, private banks and insurance companies are picking up fast. This is a fairly new subject in India, so my guess is that if you have 2-3 yrs of exp in USA and then return to India, you will be in better position.
Remember that financee engg is a generic subject, so you have bright chances to getting absorbed in other countries.
But try to do it in a good school in USA.
hope this helps you.

You have much better options in India with an MBA in finance. Check out the IIMs.
