Of course it is Not a sin. Enjoying a drink made from the fruits of the earth given to us by God such as : barley, juniper berries, molasses or grapes is a pleasureable activity. There is nothing better or more health giving than a glass of red wine with dinner. Notice I said one glass. As with all things we consume, moderation is the key. Having a drink does not make you a drunkard - eating a meal does not make you a gluten. Something taken in excess, ie. over-indulgence which affects the lives of others can be termed a sin. Why anyone should assume that a person does not have any willpower and is incapable to controlling their intake of drink or food for that matter I have no idea. It doesn't say much for our opinion of our fellow man. No the occasional drink of say wine, brandy or even a beer for that matter is not a sin it can be pleasing to taste and have medicinal properties.

Yes, in my opinion its a sin, as a drunken man dont know what he does and the chance of doing criminal thinks during drunken state is more than when he is in normal condition.

I'll consider it sin in this scenario- If one is drinking beyond limit of his health & social responsibilities where he can't take care & protect his family then its a sin.
