Despite Vijay Mallya's Force India team finishing second in the Belgian Grand Prix, Sports Minister M S Gill dismissed the achivement, calling F1' expensive entertainment" not a sport. Formula 1 - serious sport or expensive entertainment??

It\'s definitely a very serious sport which is very expensive. Y?
A search on the web for the definition of sport gave me the following result: an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc. (dictionary.com)
And a close look at F-1 racing tells us:
The levels of fitness a F-1 driver needs can be imagined from the facts that 1) their bodies are subjected to up to 3.5G\'s of force during racing 2) they can lose up to 3kg weight during the course of a race due to loss of fluids 3) and they can maintain a heart rate between 150-170 bpm for about 1 hr 45 min approx duration of a race.
