- Your sleeping posture is not comfortable for your body. Or maintaining one position for a long time.

- There could be other reasons for the pain which may not necessarily relate to sleep but other factors.
The underlying mechanism of a chronic pain syndrome caused by alterations in the area of the trigeminal nerve seems to be an increased activity in trigeminal nerve fibers and an altered inhibition in the trigeminal nucleus. The increased neuronal activity (idiopathic or symptomatic) involves nociceptive neurons resulting in the perception of pain .

It could be the type of mattress used is not giving adequate support and needs replacing. A spring mattress is best and any mattress older than 7 years just go. The pillows may be too soft or too hard. If you have stiffness and pain in the neck, shoulders, and hips in the morning, and it takes you quite a while to get going, you could have a condition called polymyalgia rheumatica. See the doctor and check it out. Lack of exercise during the day could also be the cause.
