English is the second largest known language after Hindi in India and as such it is better suitable as a link language than Hindi.

Why not Hindi? I think Hindi should be the link language in India. How do you expect all the villagers and people who live in small places to learn English and what is the need to do so?

One can not force others i.e. a native of Tamil Nadu or Orissa or Bengal to adopt Hindi.
English is international language. Even China, France, Spain communicate in English with other countries, though they have their own language. But for native of Tamil Nadu, Hindi or English are on same footing. One can not force to adopt it.
