In a single word utwo thousand and thirteen subsidies. The federal exchange platform is a means to attain cheaper health insurance for people falling in the low income group. It does not matter if you are self-employed or not, these subsidies are available to people falling in four hundred% of the poverty level, and if you are eligible for those, you will receive major discounts on health insurance purchase.

Groups that formerly had a health insurance package from their employer may now find they need to use the platform to find their own insurance after the employer mandate kicks in. Low income persons should find some subsidies, but you must purchase insurance that covers a lot of things that you do not need. If you do not purchase insurance you will be taxed.
